Android POC History

Proof of Concepts

I've always thought POCs formed the basis of any app. Usually, I find myself scrounging the internet for any source code that does something similar to my desired functionality. The examples are typically part of some large app. The POCs here are a way to build a library useful for applying to new apps. In fact I'm making the process of adding Android POCs to the library part of a required development step. The advantage is exponential since it helps me to identify a bundle of POCs in the building of a new app. It's fun building random POCs, it helps to learn faster by keeping the creative process alive. My next fun POC, for example, is moving an image on the screen with a touch move. Plus, I get to share the code it with friends and people interested in building apps with me. This is an exciting path.

App History

Rotary Club International

This app was created by the nudging of my friend Lynn Gustke, a twenty year heart and soul Rotarian. The app connects club members wanting to share club location and a member list with contact information about their club. Lynn and I have the Rotary spirit to improve the app in ways that best represent the needs of Rotarians to communicate. For legal reasons, the logo was change to something akin to the Rotary gear.

Lions Club International

Lynn and I just love the work Lions people do. We just had to create this app to connect members akin to the Rotary app.

CloudCatcher

I bought an iPad2 this year and had in mind to create and deploy a game in my minds eye the past twenty years. Ya, that was way before cell phones! This is a Universal app for the iPhone and iPad app for kids ages 4 to 7. It's quite a treat to simultaneously tether both an iPhone4 and iPad2. The challenge in creating this Universal app was simply the scaling the graphics to accommodate two resolutions. The intended workings of the game is material for neuroscience and cognitive recognition. Look for the update to reflect that vision.

ADHDBuddy

I just love this name, though my sister tells me it best to take the subject seriously with a less fun-filled name. It could just as well been named ADHDTool. Almost every morning I challenge myself to find a new way to stay focused on goals. This app is a result of trying to read an Android book in record time by having the app prompt me to record voice and notes at even intervals. Noting and reciting just covered information helps me to remember just covered content.

EcoThat

This is my best creation yet is missing critical pieces. The purpose of the app is for people to jot ecological messes they encounter. A new release will have a new goal to celebrating little eco-friendly discoveries. For example, after a dish is cooked i dab the excess Olive oil with a napkin and throw that in the trash before applying soap and water to wash the pan.

EatHere

This app has the potential to better your hurried lunch experience. It's really a neato app. Look for the screen script video showing how to use the restaurant web page setup.

PaperRockScissors

This little app does just what it says. It needs a version update to veer-off the coarse standard Apple defined shake.
